Strong Relationships Put Students First
CISD works closely with twelve K-12 districts and one K-8 district in the region, as well as with four area public school academies. CISD also has long-standing mutual relationships with the intermediate school districts of Barry, Branch, St. Joseph, Kalamazoo, and Wayne counties.
To increase student opportunities in higher education, CISD maintains close partnerships with Albion College, Kellogg Community College, Olivet College, Miller College, Michigan State University, and Western Michigan University. The CISD also coordinates its services with regional health and human service agencies, city, township and county government, chambers of commerce, as well as other business groups and corporations.
We're Here for You
The administrative offices for the CISD are centrally located in the middle of the district, just north of Marshall. From these offices and throughout the county, more than 420 committed employees serve the member districts in Calhoun County. Our annual budget of approximately $62 million is funded by permanent charter millage, federal and state appropriations, fee for service programs, special projects, and grants.
In addition to managing much of Calhoun County's educational services, CISD owns and operates the Doris Klaussen Developmental Center and Calhoun Area Career Center, in Battle Creek, operates the instructional program at Starr Commonwealth, in Albion, and the Juvenile Home, in Marshall.
