Graduation and Dropout Information
Beginning with the 2007 Graduation Year, the State instituted a new cohort methodology - in other words students are tracked across Michigan beginning at Grade 9 and then 4 years later in Grade 12 to see how many students are actually completing high school with a diploma and graduating on time (in 4 years). The state will also begin measuring a 5-year cohort graduation rate beginning in 2008 and beyond. Students transferring among and between school districts in Michigan will be taken into consideration in the calculation of rates. Also beginning in 2008, the raw data used to compile the rates will be subject to audits and periodic review by ISD staff. Graduation rates are one indicator used to measure school buildings attaining Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) under NCLB - the state benchmark at this point is 80%.
